I am running as the leadership voice for the citizens of North Branch. My intent is to work in collaboration with North Branch residents, businesses, and educational institutions, surrounding communities, and Chisago County. Together, we will be heard and have a voice. North Branch city government has to be about the people, for the people, and governed by the people of North Branch. I am the person to lead this mission forward.
My top priority is economic development. North Branch has over 200 acres in the Interstate Business Park waiting for development. We currently have three tenants, two of which do not generate tax dollars for our community. The land is shovel-ready, including rail spurs, and is classified as an “Opportunity Zone,” which makes the space ideal for new business development. We must work with prospective companies and not limit our outreach. To strengthen our community, we must entice new businesses to our City, which will generate tax dollars that result in developed infrastructure and economic growth and health.
Additionally, we must bolster our existing businesses. Local business is the foundation of our community, and I will make it my mission to support the growth and development of our current business stable.
I will be the advocate for North Branch residents to strengthen existing businesses and to expand cutting-edge new business development in our City.
I have been a resident of North Branch since 2000. I’m the self-employed owner of Blue Sky Travel since 1983. I am also a part-time employee of Hennepin Theater Trust. I am a widow (deceased husband, Arlin), and I am a mother to my son and daughter and a grandmother to my 2 beautiful grandchildren. Arlin was a Navy Veteran, and my son is a Veteran of the U.S. Air Force where he was employed by the Pentagon Department of Search and Rescue. I’m so proud of their military service to our Country.
Community service and leadership are my passion and strength as demonstrated by my involvement with many local organizations in various capacities. I have served on the Board of the North Branch Chamber of Commerce, including service as President of the Board. I’ve held the President position on the North Branch Education Foundation. I have chaired the North Branch Economic Development Authority for 11 years, co-chaired the Chisago County Relay for Life, and served on the White Bear Township Planning Commission. I volunteer at the Salvation Army and pack meals for children at Every Meal. And I’m fondly referred to as the “Veggie Corn Lady on 95!”
I will be your advocate on all issues concerning North Branch as we move our City forward. We need to unite our City, once again, to be a government of the people, for the people, and by the people of North Branch. We must collaborate across residents, businesses, and educational institutions to develop a thriving North Branch community.
Economic Development is my passion for our City. I will be laser focused on supporting and expanding our current businesses.
Additionally, I will be working diligently to attract new businesses to the Interchange Business Park and other locations around the City. Thriving businesses are our community’s lifeblood. I will lead this challenge.
Transparency in city government is another key priority for my campaign. As your mayor, I will insist on open communication and accountability to residents and business owners.
